New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year 2007!

As my beloved and I were watching the ball drop in Times Square while in our Super 8 Hotel Room [more on that later] I pounced on the handsome man o’ mine and gave him some tongue. He likes it when I’m hot like that.

Then I started naming off my resolutions. I surprised myself. I had never had any resolutions before…except while drinking. Then it was the standard: “I won’t drink anymore.” But always said after praying first and paying homage to the porcelain gods usually on January 02 of whatever year pre-dating 2003.

I remember New Year’s Day 1996 watching a commercial by Charter Hospital “If you don’t get help at Charter. Get help somewhere.” Taking it as a sign, I sought help at Charter the following week. They referred me to A.A. That was the end of that. Fine if they didn’t want to help me. I did not quit drinking at that time.

So since now I am no longer drinking and haven’t for a while - read my biography for that story - and I do want to continue growing and improving as a person in this world, I made some resolutions for 2007. And as I notice that I have already fallen short on the first one, I only consider breaking resolutions when I have decided that they’re no longer worth striving for. As my heart beats, I am still human and I will fall short of my ideal at any time. I will not consider myself as having failed as long as I can forgive my own trespass and continue moving forward.

  • No foul language. [Broke that one within an hour of waking up.]
  • Praying every night before I go to bed.
  • Quit biting the inside of my mouth [again].

Happy New Year
