I need help of a technical nature. Technorati hasn’t updated or pinged this blog in weeks! See where it says “Updated ___ days ago?” That would be the problem. You’ll know it’s working when it has the same amount of days as it’s been since my last entry.
As of this entry [August 22, 2006], the last entry Technorati recognizes is “Hanging out in Seekonk” [which was posted July 02, 2006]. I’ve had a few posts in between now and then.
I use Wordpress’s Blog software and I have seen mention of problems with Technorati failing to ping Wordpress blogs before. [Not to start an ubsubstantiated rumor but that I’ve seen a few threads - Diane’s Stuff, Wordpress blog - on the issue and for all I know, Wordpress isn’t the only software that’s been the subject of a non-ping but because I use Wordpress I wouldn’t know that absolutely.] I have my software set up to auto-ping Technorati and when that’s failed, I have gone to Technorati to manually ping. Nothing’s working.
Did or Does anyone have this same problem? If you did and it’s working now do you have any ideas? If you do have this problem currently and are still not resolved, can you offer what you have tried if anything?

I have the same problem and I can’t fix it either.
I’ve:
- Updated the ping settings in WordPress
- Tried manual pings
- Checked the code on my blog
I don’t know what else to do.. any ideas?

I’m stalling for time. What I do NOT want to try is disabling my plugins and making a new post….and then ping.
I see you have Spam Karma too. Alright. Here I go…
August 22nd, 2006 at 8:33 pm
- Disabled Bunny’s Technorati, WPNotable and Related Posts
- Ripped Bunny, Notable, and Related posts from single.php
- Will make a new post and let WP auto-ping Technorati
Here we go…
Much later: That didn’t do it.
Have put in another tech request for assistance at Technorati.
About 32 hours later: Response and an apology from Tech Support saying they’ve been backlogged. She said she has set the spiders loose and now my more recent articles are showing up. I noticed that my older ones weren’t however and sent an email back wondering why that was and why it still said it hadn’t been updated in ____ days - which were the same days as last time. We’ll see what happens.
Suggestion: As another wsbsite suggested, send in a request to Technorati tech for assistance as to why your site is not being properly indexed. Until they or we can understand why in the first place - if ever - I guess we’ll have to just wait and see.

Hello, I have the same problem with Technorati… Did they ever solved it for you? I just don’t know what to do anymore…
August 28th, 2006 at 7:24 am
I emailed tech support and that’s when it became addressed. I think that since they didn’t let me know what specifically happened, that it was maybe a glitch they don’t want to talk about. :)
I suggest you email tech support. I suggest all people with the problems of not properly indexing time after time emailing tech support, as it was nothing I could duplicate, isolate or solve.
Still have the issue of old posts not showing up or even looking as if they’ve been indexed. So, keep in mind this may happen to you if they are successful.

Hey, I don’t know if you are still checking this post, but I am having the same problem and it is driving me bananas. Technorati says I haven’t updated in ‘91 days’ (I update daily at least) and it has none of my new posts. It’s very frustrating as I think anyone who stumbles on my blog will think I never write. I have emailed them repeatedly asking for an explanation and only get the immediate form reply.
I am going to post a rant later today and tag it. I only hope to start something of a bad rep going around the Wordpress blogosphere to maybe shame them into at least answering!
August 29th, 2006 at 4:06 am
Also, thanks for the advice about the plugins. I was also about to disable mine thinking that might be the problem.

Cat - It’s very frustrating when I get in bed with a service [ free or not doesn’t matter] and then the service I have learned to accomodate so it can serve me better, does upside down. NOT just goes upside down, but goes upside down AND customer support is lacking extremely.
It’s frustratingly maddening.
I don’t want anyone to make the mistake of thining Technorate fixed my problem. No.
My old posts are _not_indexed. When they “set the new spiders loose” my old ones went kaput and I have what…five now? So my blog - AFAT is concerned has five entries?
If you want to do what I did, I would support that - Google “technorati not pinging” and watch the Blogosphere soar. Then post. Post your problem. Copy and paste baby! Copy AND PASTE. LOL
I have heard nothing back from them again. Although this support rep’s email said “Email me if I can be odf further assistance” and I did….explaining the NEW problem and nothing.
Technorati may have been a service people were turning to, but let’s face it. Google is still how people will find blogs. And if Technorati can’t get straight with Wordpress users…? Well, Wordpress is #1 as far as I am concerned and free so that makes it public and beloved.
I used to work in software support. Beautiful job, beautiful people…and someone said that people will forgive buggy software…the public understands perfection ins software isn’t realistic. What people will NOT FORGIVE and what people WILL remember, is the kind of support they receive WHEN the software goes buggy.
That memory’s been rining in my head since Technorati’s seemingly begun turning with a cold shoulder.

I have the same problem you describe. I’ve seen people mentioning their upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0. I’am now running 2.0.4. I can’t remember when it started to fail, so I can’t assure it’s bound to the upgrade, but maybe… this problem sucks!

[…] Apparently, I am not alone. In fact, there’s hundreds, maybe thousands, in the same nasty boat. Hmm, even more. And more! This guy says Technorati is eating his shorts. […]

My latest email [via their form] to Technorati 9:26am ET September 01, 2006:
My blog information shows that it was updated ten hours ago. The problem with that is that I had a post that was published 16 hours ago and it is not being reflected.
I still have not heard back regarding what happened to the indexing of my prior posts that dropped from Technorati when I last emailed in regarding why the past five or six more recent posts hadn’t been indexed.
So now my recent ones that weren’t showing are showing. My older ones aren’t. And my new ones are not being picked up and I have not heard anything back though I did respond to the email support person when she asked if she could be of further assistance to let her know.
Alex - Yes it DOES suck. And apparently Sound of One Blog Clapping thinks it is sucks too.

Though it sucks, I am glad to find out I am not quite alone. I know my feed works, and I don’t think my code is messed up as Feedburner updates it constantly, and, Google Blog Search is indexing my site fine. This problem started for me about 8 days ago.
I have emailed Technorati, and have no response. I will try them again today.

I’ve pretty much given up on Technorati. I have had this problem off and on, for months. I refuse to tag my posts with Technorati tags anymore, if they are not going to index my site. Why give them more links, if I get no reciprocal benefit?
Sad. I loved Technorati, back when it worked properly.
September 7th, 2006 at 5:49 pm
Finally, technorati responded, and indexed my site. However, I added new content, and they ping, and crawl my feed, but it isn’t updated on technorati’s index of my site. It is pretty frustrating.

Guys, I have the same problem too. I have sent an email to tech support of Technorati but they never replied to me :(
Well I think that very inresponsible of them to sent the spiders only if you email them. Shouldn’t they sent them nevertheless? I am very disappointed of Technorati’s support :S
September 17th, 2006 at 12:34 pm
WOW…I’m glad I found this blog! I thought it was definitely me! I recently discovered the Technorati plugin and started tagging my posts. Then I went to Technorati, and saw that my blog was last updated 37 days ago! OMG!!!!!!! Yet they have all the posts listed from the last year or so that I started this particular blog.
I’ve already written to support and got the standard e-mail back that everyone else seems to have gotten.
Now go figure, but I claimed another new blog of mine a few days ago, and Technorati’s stats are right on the money!!! Really…
Hope they get this resolved soon!

September 18 Update: Please please please keep in mind friends that as I share my experience I want that to no way detract from yours - as mine could seemingly change at any moment.
As of my last posting before this date, Technorati did index it.
Still have heard nothing back from tech support and perhaps it was on my end. Let me share with you what I did discover that was “wrong” with my site. I am trying to share this in hopes that if we can share what it was we did “incorrectly” we can help each other. This worked for me and given that T. did not respond I don’t know if it was what I did that made a difference. …and for all I know they could stop picking me up again tomorrow. :)
I use feedburner for my feeds. As you may see, my articles are quite lengthy as it’s not really “a blog” and so hence, with Feedburner picking up all content from my posts it had grown to an unacceptable size for Feedburner.
When I altered Feedburner to just pick up the last ten posts for example, it was under the size limit Feedburner has imposed. Success! My feeds were now updated and then Technorati picked up my last post. Coincidence? I don’t know. But for you Feedburner clients, it may be worth considering.
Much love,
Samsara
PS. If you tweak your Feedburner and have success with Technorati, could you let us know?

Today I got an email from Technorati Support with an apology for late response as well as the reason of all these (” We’ve been experiencing a backlog in support and
are working hard to address everyone. “) and also from now on my blog is being indexed, pinged correctly! Let’s hope technorati solves this issue for everyone that has this problem!
October 12th, 2006 at 4:54 pm
I thought I’d share my Technorati troubles too. I’ve been running Krunker.com since early 2005 and I’ve never had trouble with Technorati until now. About 2 weeks ago, the site stopped indexing my site and I thought it was merely something on my end. I sent in support emails up the wazzoo and I checked my site code to make sure everything was ok.. but to no avail. I wouldn’t normally care except I noticed a significant drop off in traffic recently which also is due to Technorati not indexing my site.
Now the one good thing that this has done is cause me to look into good search engine optimization techniques to make sure my site is well indexed in places other than Technorati.
Nevertheless, I’ve been having my share of troubles with Technorati so you guys are NOT alone!
October 16th, 2006 at 6:21 pm
No luck yet with my report to technorati, still showing only posts I made 140 days ago…
November 27th, 2006 at 8:48 pm
The problem started for me aout a week ago for me , I have only been registered with technorati about a month so this kind of unreliability really turns me off to it.
January 4th, 2007 at 1:35 am
6 months later and it still occurs. My blog was started nearly a month ago, and it still shows only the original post. http://technorati.com/blogs/http://lantrix.homeip.net
Yet I have posted over 15 entries over the last 20 days.
Time to email tech support again, or maybe technorati can just die a slow death?
January 6th, 2007 at 2:27 am
I ended up losing most of my stuff when I contacted their support. Now I have like 6 of my most recents. THAT is annoying.

Hypothetically speaking, If I had A website called “Houseworks.com” and this site was getting millions and millions of hits a day. So with this in hand, If I was to type in “House” On google search engine would “Houseworks.com” Be within the top 5 results. Cheers and take care!
