Winning the Arte Y Pico Award Four Times
Right here is a perfect example of viral marketing… Oops. Wrong speech. Ahem. I’d like to thank the academy… Darn. Wrong again. Uh. Oh here we go.
For the past couple of days, three different comments appeared in two different article comment sections. The first time it happened I was so excited I told my Mom! [I had never even tried to win an award because I don’t really ‘fit’ in the blogosphere since I mainly write my lengthy articles - or so I thought.] But then I get another one and I am thinking, “How coincidental that twice I should get not just an award but an INCOMING link to my blog that I had nothing to do with!” Awesome! Awesome! So that when the third award came this evening [the evening I initially started this post], I simply could not believe my incredible fortune. I had just finished my article on “Law of Attraction and Metaphysically Manifesting not the Secret” when that comment came in.
I am truly flattered and, not to exaggerate, but inspiredly humbled that four of you talented and creative bloggers, teachers, and writers with AWESOME sites would even consider my site influential enough, and then to go even further to award me this consideration. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank [in order of winning…] Regular Guy, Rebecca, Dr. Susan Gregg, and Theresa Korner.
About Those who Awarded Arte Y Pico to Me
Regular Guy writes - and it’s as comic as it is tragic; dark humor, if you will - about his divorce, his memories of the marriage and the drama that goes along with it all. If you think your divorce was rocky you may find comfort in knowing you’re not alone. Or if your marriage [or potential marriage] has the warning signs that Regular Guy writes about, maybe you want to reconsider the idea! I visit him regularly - not because of a divorce or marriage but because I relate to being a victim of others’ imposed Bizarro World and - because he is so engaging! Truly one blog I visit and “spend time with” on a regular basis. So head on over and see: Custody, Divorce & The Court System. Thanks Regular Guy.
Rebecca is a mother of 7 and she’s beautiful despite it. I think she deserves an award just for raising 7 kids and I’ll see what I can do about that in the near future. Her blog, Creating Wealth and Health, is as the name implies. She writes on a wide variety of topics, including Law of Attraction, The Secret, manifesting, and health issues as well. For example, did you know about the stuff they put into cows? I am glad she’s saying it. I seem to tell my relatives and friends and they don’t believe me; As well as antibiotics…
Measurable amounts of estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, zeranol, trenbolone acetate and melengesterol acetate, all hormones, are found in meat! These chemicals do not biodegrade, they simply stay around forever causing proven sexual abnormalities in animals and humans.
Ergo, girls are getting their periods earlier, man-boobs are on the rise, and all that aside, we’re living in a hormone induced culture anyway. Is it any wonder we have testosterone ladled murderers on death row? God gave me all the hormones I need and this is why I do not take the pill either. It’s never agreed with me anyway and I began to understand why.
Though I’ve only recently been hanging out at her place, I hope to learn more as time goes by. So thank you Rebecca.
Susan Gregg struck me at once. She did, because her blog, Toltec Insights, goes further than just Don Miguel Ruiz and the Four Agreements but actually enhances one’s path with other terms, lessons, and experiences you hear about at my site. With my being so ga-ga over the Four Agreements, you just know I have to read Dr. Susan and absorb her Toltec teachings and other teachings as well. Her site and blog are a lot like mine in that she takes her personal experiences and brings them to the universal truth. I love how she writes in agreement about the Law of Attraction and The Secret not being new with my most recent article [”Law of Attraction and Metaphysically Manifesting not The Secret“] and I wish I would have found it in order to quote it in my article:
“The Secret and the Law of Attraction are still buzzing around the self help and spiritual communities. They have been around since before time, but finally they got packaged in a palatable manner. I have no idea how long roses have been around. Not too long ago commercial growers created roses that would ship well and last a bit longer but they no longer smelled like roses.”
Is that not just poignant? She, right there, summarizes PRECISELY the point my recent A.D.D. & life affected article attempted to convey; That the commercialization does change a thing. [And yes, Dr. Susan, the roses are not smelling like roses too much these days.] So drop by Toltec Insights or visit her main site, “Toltec Tradition and Spiritual Healing“, to see how she can help you today!
Theresa Komer is a simply delightful woman who blogs about life, self-knowledge and other issues invoking positive change. From her Entrecard description of “A Bumpy Path” she says “We’ll take life’s path full speed ahead, you and I; and when we’re flung in the air from hitting a bump, we’ll FLY!” As she said when she awarded the Arte Y Pico to me, yes I do drop on her quite often and yes it’s because anyone who can find the pleasure or value of a *bump* in the path, has something that I can relate to. It’s not after all, about making life easy by insuring there are no obstacles; that would be folly. It’s about adjusting *our* sails to fit the winds of change; to deal as positively as we can with the obstacles in our life.
Rules of the Arte Y Pico Award
Take a Lesson in Viral Marketing from the Arte Y Pico Award
- You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
- Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone. [Nicely viral to have a backlink for appreciation to the blog you think deserves the award. Very clever.]
- Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself. [Nicely viral for incoming links for those who awarded the award to me, but I went a little further by expressing something good about the blog who bestowed upon me. It’s just a way of saying thanks. This is nicely thought out because it almost assures 5 reciprocal links to the person who awarded it. Higher backlinks is higher PageRank.]
- Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. [Well done for the originator to be so clever. Many backlinks for the Arte Y Pico page because people love to feel good in receiving *and* giving! So during the process, the Arte Y Pico blog continues to get at least 6 one way backlinks from each awarding!]
So…If you’ve seen awards floating amongst the Blogosphere or even images like the one to the left, it’s because the image and the linked to website has probably provided a service that was of such great benefit to the displayer of said image and link, that the person felt great in displaying it! In the case of the Darn Good Reviews, I was proud of the review because it seemed very honest and I had never been reviewed by such a neat place before. :) Now, I get referenced from time to time, but reviewed? I never had. So of course I *want* people to see the image and click on it. I also want people to know I endorse this site for honest reviews. [Yes, they are FREE too - just ask for a review - and the image and link is not even compulsory - which is why I display it. I always bypass compulsory link demands.]
This is the first time I have ever won an award and because I got it three times by three different people, and because I actually do want to pay it forward, these are my only motivations for this post. So Arte Y Pico did extra good in that area as well. The award could be stone ugly but because we humans like to be flattered, appreciated, and wanted, that when we are, we are more likely to want to pay it forward by suggesting the 5 blogs to pass it on to. :)

The Winners from Living within Samsara
Please Visit these Winners - They are Worthy!
I am naturally biased toward blogs I know about and I don’t visit many blogs on a regular basis. However, over the past few days I have written down the names of the blogs that I feel contribute something creatively worthy to the internet community - either in aesthetic appeal of content or site design, having or addressing a creative or unusual topic or topics, or in creatively educating or entertaining - and who have not yet won an award that I know of. In theory, I think I could choose 20 - winning four awards - but, please. No.; With great attention and intention and for the above reasons, I do choose the following.
And also, again, not to be biased but it’s my damn awarding, the ones I choose will be Entrecard members, like I am, as my way of saying thank you to the Entrecard members who chose me, so feel free to visit and drop on them if you find them worthy as well! It’s kind of like saying “Thanks” for being a bright light of inspiration in the world of blogging. :) Also. I do NOT expect a link back. Nor do I have expectations of them feeling like they *have* to choose 5 other blogs. Seriously. To give an award with the caveat being you have to do something has been what’s prevented me from posting about my winnings for so long. I have A.D.D./ A.C.E. people! This kinda stuff - making choices - kills me!
Living in Seychelles - Because I feel like I am at the beach when I am there. I love the heading, her writing style, and her creative thinking.
My Journey to Recovery - My friend from Malaysia has a very creative blog for keeping it recovery oriented. If you’re recovering from alcohol or drugs I recommend it.
Positive and Successful Lifestyle Tips - Cute stories with the moral usually being how to stay positive and motivated toward greatness.
Flos Place Online - She reminds me of me and since my self-esteem is healthy, this means I really like her a lot.
Gregorio Art - Gregorio’s Art Studio is an online art blog with art and art topics. This list would not be complete without an ART blog would it?
And that’s it. Whew. I need to get back to writing my articles. This winning award business - thank you to Island Wench for bestowing the Sweet Home Blog Award onto me - is time consuming stuff!

Thank you all so much. You are all so kind.
I’ve been cranking out a neat little ditty “What People think of me is none of my business” for a couple days but I keep getting usurped. I wanted it up to bring in July. Oh well. Maybe I can cheat and pre-date it.
But the truth is, when someone thinks kindly or generously of us and shares it, we do like to keep it our business and tuck it away in our hearts for a rainy day don’t we? :-)
